We sang Laura Story's "Blessings" a couple of weeks ago at church for our pastor's wife. She had asked us to sing it months ago, but we hadn't practiced it. Well, her mother passed away, and I really wanted us to do that for her.
Well, that got me to thinking about the blessings in my life that aren't readily noticeable at the moment. Why does it always take something tragic or drastic to get us thinking about the simple things...the little blessings we overlook so often and take for granted? We are all guilty of this. The old adage about not appreciating things until they're gone has rung true for us all at one point in our lives.
Here's my list. Maybe when you're feeling down or discouraged, you can make one for yourself. It couldn't hurt.
I'm blessed because Isaac is happy and healthy, one of our moms gets to keep him, I have a great family, church family, and friends, I have still found the time to do the things I love, Isaac sleeps all night, and I have a job!
Now...to practice what I preach. The next few weeks are going to be tough! Pray that I can deal with the change.
