At his two-month checkup he weighed 15 pounds and 4 ounces. He is almost 25 inches long, too. We have a little dumpling on our hands!
Isaac is 10 weeks old today!
The biggest thing going on with Isaac right now is his sleep. For about 10 days now, he has been sleeping all night. Yes, thank the good Lord up above! It's truly happening. We went from 2-3 hour stretches to 10-13 in two weeks.
In late June I decided something needed to be done. Isaac was waking up two or three times a night, and I was getting really anxious about work starting back up. I was having trouble staying asleep because I heard every breath and every sound he made. The night lights didn't help matters, either. So Mom encouraged me to go ahead and let him sleep in his crib. It was hard, and I was hesitant because not only was I putting him in a room away from me, but I was taking him into a milestone I wasn't sure I was ready for.
Nevertheless, I tried it out, and we both started sleeping better. I started a little routine: Around 10:30 I brought him into his room. With the sound machine blaring ocean waves and his night light shining, I put the lavender night-time lotion on him and changed his diaper. Then I got into the rocker, started singing, and began feeding him.
With this system his waking up started slowly decreasing until he was sleeping through the night. The first time it happened he slept from 10:30-4:30. To me that was incredible, but it still didn't feel as if it was ALL night. Well, the next night, I woke up at 5:00. I remember looking at the time in disbelief, imagining that something was wrong because surely Isaac would've woken me up by then. The next few nights were even more bizarre. He was sleeping 10 hour stretches! But the night before last takes the cake. He slept 13 hours. I put him down at 9:30, and he woke up at 10:30. We had already eaten breakfast, painted the bedroom, and done some laundry. I even read a couple of chapters in my book and watched some coverage on the royal baby. He only ate about 22 ounces that day, so I figured he wouldn't sleep as long this morning. I was right. He got up about ten minutes after 7. I'll take that. No complaining there.
When did your baby start sleeping through the night? Should I expect things to change, or is his sleeping through the night a sure thing from now on? Does your baby have weird eating/sleeping cycles that mimic those of a hibernating bear?
Going back to work...am I going to cry every day? When will it stop? Will I be able to focus and keep my mind on nouns and Shakespeare? I'm afraid I'm going to be a mess.
Can't you tell?
I ran a total of 9.2 miles last week with one four mile run. It was tough! I mean, how do people get past this? How did I get past this? Sheesh. This week I'm shooting for ten total miles with a five mile run.
As far as I know my first race back will be the Color Run in Tuscaloosa in September. My running buddies are running as a team for our friend Ashley's bachelorette festivities. Our team is called Runaway Bride. It's going to be so fun. I'm excited!
Now, if my pesky phone would quit telling me I don't have any storage left for pictures...
